Strong fresh malt nose, smells of a home brew mart! Malt continues in the flavor with the pale very strong. Nice caramel and chocolate hints too. Mouth is medium bodied and pretty smooth. I dig this one! GJF (501), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA

A large beige head fades, but leaves a good lacing. Well-developed malt aroma. Flavor is bittersweet malts, nutty, very reminiscent of tea, slightly sweet but with a tannic finish. Medium bodied. A good brown ale. Barreras (127), Diamond Bar, California, USA

Nice caramel malty sweet nutty aroma. Flavors were full and very intense, caramel malts, pretty sweet and hardly a trace of bitterness. Full-bodied, but easy to drink... clean and crisp. This is a pretty damn good beer, I’ll definitely be having more of these! jaghouse (25), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear crimson to prune color with a small, fleeting, beige colored head. The bubbly edge leaves jagged flares and sudsy spots on the glass. The nose shows a bevy of dark fruits and malts, most notably fig, prune, and scorched caramel, with hints of black patent malts, raisin, and earthy hops. Flavors follow suit, again quite malty and sweet. Burnt caramel and dry fig lead the charge, followed by dry cocoa and hints of hazelnut and earthen hops. Medium to light in body, with a slightly above average carbonation, the finish is a little on the sticky side. To me, this seems like a Belgian ale mixed with an American brown more than a traditional brown. Pretty decent brew here, but nothing special.
