| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 10, 2008 Deep brown with nice off white head. Mainly sweet malt in the aroma. Flavor is fairly sweet with some chocolate and some sweet caramel malt. Not as much hop balance to this one, but it is still a decent brew. Strykzone (1475), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Cola colored with plenty of red. Nice yellowish head. Aroma shows a nice balance of hop and malt with pine and toffee. Chocolate flavors rule the day with some nut and raisin. Balance is tilted heavily toward sweet malts. Feels smooth but thin with some zing that lights up the tongue. Cool name is better than the beer but that is pretty good, too. falkirk005 (27), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2008 An excellent brew. Deep brown appearance with a modest head that releases faint malt and nut aromas. Fairy light on the palate, but taste is excellent with nutty flavor and hints of roasty aftertaste. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 4, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a nice one finger head. Held to a light, it is fairly clear and amber. Excellent malty aroma or chocolate, coffee and nuts. Flavor is more balanced than the aroma, but a bit astringent. Some spice and hops (can’t taste the Goldings) with a touch of weak coffee. Palate isn’t as creamy as I hoped, and finishes a bit dry for my tastes. Overall a good, but not great Brown ale. alexanderj (2250), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 29, 2008 On tap at Yard House in Brea, I think it is fairly new; color of dark brown (probably a bit daker than most). Aroma of caramel, cocoa and chocolate. Flavor of toasted biscuit, caramel and a touch of slight cocoa. Pretty good for the style. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA

Very brown (fitting for a brown ale no?) with good balance of malt/hops. An easy drinking beer with subtle flavors. Brewsmith (136), Torrance, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2008 From a 12 oz. bottle purchased locally. Aroma is malty with some earthy hop aroma. Deep reddish brown with a small, tight tan head. Malt flavor is toasty, biscuity and a little roast in there, malty but not overly sweet. There’s plenty of hop bitterness to balance. Easy drinking and finishes dry. Very balanced. A great brown ale.
