Aromas of chocolate, nutty malt and light hop. Roasty malt body, some choc and nuttiness, light bitterness makes the finish clean and balanced. Very good brown ale. boFNjackson (1318), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2008 Updated: May 8, 2008Bottle... Poured a deep, deep burgundy with a thick beige head. Aroma was sub-par, like nutty malt followed by musky water stains. Low to mild carbonation which complements the rich malt and chocolate flavors. Slight hops, but more in the background as caramel malt takes over. The finish contains mocha flavors. soulgrowl (52), Kitakyushu-shi, Japan
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 Aroma: Mostly roasty-toasty dark malts, a little molasses, some fruity hops. Not terribly complex.
Appearance: A good-looking brunette, this one. Very, very dark cola/root beer-esque ruby-brown with a bumpy brownish-beige head. This beer has class.
Flavor: Mmm... nice roasted malt character. A little coffee, a little chocolate, and a lot of tannins, kind of like an oversteeped mug of orange spice black tea. Alcohol is quite noticeable, as is a distinct current of grape juice. Doesn’t bonk you over the head with flavor, but very tasty. Would go well with dessert.
Palate: Creamy enough, but a tad flat. I think a fuller body would enhance the overall taste quite a bit.
Overall: Goes down easy, but holds your attention. A very pleasant brew. elcaballo (101), Beverly Hills, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2008 A super drinkable brown ale that is worth a try. Its fairly sweet in flavor with some chocolate coming through as the dominate flavor. Despite the description i found the palate a touch watery, but the plus side of this is that its a light feeling beer that is very easy to drink. Overall pretty good Tweety (344), Vancouver, Washington, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Medium brown appearance with nice amount of off white head. Aroma is of darker malts, not much else. Flavor is of nuts, bittering hops, chocolate malt, caramel, and comes off somewhat roasty. Mouthfeel is creamy, but this would be better it it were bumped up in maltiness even more. Still, this is not bad overall. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 22, 2008 My first Big Sky brew. Decent brown ale which pours a moderately dark brown colour and medium sized tan head. Slightly roasted nuttiness, well balanced and a little fruit finish. Sweet caramel malts, with a hint of light coffee.
