Pours a rich mahogany with a wonderful head that lasts for a long time, with good lace on the glass. The nose is earthy with some chocolate, bananas, and a slight hint of spice (cumin or cinnamon?). Taste is quite toasty and malty, with dominant chocolate, burnt almond, and faint coffee notes defining the character. The palate is the only real weakness in this beer ... I like my brown ales to be slightly thicker with less carbonation, and Moose Drool is a little too bubbly. Other than that, this is one of my favorite session beers. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Toasted malt bread aroma shows signs of boozy raisins as it warms. Clear, dark red body with a long-lasting creamy white head and some lacing. Flavour continues bread and raisins from the aroma along with a hint of a chocolate-dipped finish! Medium body. Nice finish. classact813 (5), USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 coffee, spruce, earthy, leaves, alcohol, skunky, woody, brown, brown foam, medium sweetness, very bitter, lightly sour, full body, thick feel, fizzy, bitter, pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada

Pours a deep chestnut with reddish highlights. 3 finger mocha cap lasts moderately well. mild carbonation
Musty malty sweet aroma.
Big blast of chewy sweet malts, moderate hop bittering to balance...the finish has a distinctive char from black malts and a bready after taste.
Nice ale...don’t know if I’d class it as a Brown ale...more like a sweetish porter....but very drinkable

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Pours a dark brown, opaque unless held up to the light, with a small head that dissipates to just a film quickly. Aroma is cereal, malt sweetness, and a bit of hop if you really dig for it. The flavor follows the aroma, being mainly malt with some hoppiness in the short finish. Highly carbonated in the mouth, but with a thinnish flavor. Not a bad beer, more flavorful than Newcastle, but really not all that spectacular. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA

Aroma is a good deal of malt, light nuttiness, a little estery banana and a bit of chocolate. The taste is very malty, with a little hop bitterness and a hint of light fruitiness. Medium-thin mouthfeel with an average length roasted malt finish. Not a bad brown ale, but I wasn’t overly impressed. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2008 (bottle) Pours brown with an off-white head. Aroma is fairly subtle with some cocoa, roasted malt, toasted nut, and light hops. The taste is light chocolate and cocoa, with some caramel that yields to a pretty nice roasted and bitter hop finish. This beer has a medium mouthfeel, and is quite sessionable. Aroma malt, sugar and some spices. Flavor is malt, hint of chocolate and nice touch of hops. Texture is medium a little on the watery side, small amount of carbonation. Over all a good brown ale.
