Commercial Description:
Moose Drool is our Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. Our brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.

Pours brown with a small off white head. Smells of dark fruits, a little nuttiness, and some sweet malty caramel. Nice smell. The taste was pretty malty, but a little thin on the palate. Maybe a touch watery. The caramel and nuts kind of blended together because neither stood out over the other. Very easy drinking brown ale. Finish was semi-fruity, with just a mild little bitterness to it. Decent brown.

In the style of ’New Castle’, this beer was pretty good. Deep dark color with creamy not so big head. The nutty flavor has a slight bitter to it like cocoa. One to add to the fridge if you can find it.

Excellent Brown Ale! Nice balance between hops and malts, good molasses tones, very nutty, with a hint of cocoa beans. Wish I could find it in Michigan, tried it when on vacation about a year ago, and brought back a couple of 6-packs---down to my last 2 bottles in the fridge. Someone posted on the "Broad Distribution/Find this beer" button that it is available in Michigan---can someone tell me where?!

A good cold weather beer, nutty, sweet, reminds me of the good time I had in Missoula.

Smells sweet, nutty, dark brown color (a little like river water, its only negative), smooth honeyish palate, no bitterness, doesn’t get old after a few. A good fall beer.

12oz, no date--my label claims 5.1%. Dark brown ruby with a one finger beige head that fades to a creamy film and thick ring after a short while. Aroma of sweet caramel and nuts, and a hint of milk chocolate. Nosing it a while longer I get a bit of salt. Flavor is pretty caramelly, bordering on toffee, and nutty. Light earthy hops do show up long enough to put the bitterness level at a 2 or 3 (out of 10) at the ashy roasty finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Good example of the style.

Fresh almost minty aroma. Darker than moose color, don’t know ’bout the actual drool, don’t get that close. Froth is thin to cola-like. Flavor is rich grain, clear water, a little short on the hops and a bit sweeter than needed. Palate is full, a bit fizzy and half-and-half cream. Overall a satisfying drink in winter, but light enough for summer, probably best during the fall, maybe during moose season?
