| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2007 Had this beer many times when I visited Famous Dave’s BBQ in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Decided to write my review when visiting the brewery instead. On draught at the Big Sky brewery’s tap room in Missoula, Montana. Pours a reddish brown brew with a thick off-white head that dissolves to a thin layer and ring around glass. Nice lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, roasted nuts, some mocha and a touch of honey. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of rosted nute, toffee, a touch of chocolate and some earthy herbs. Finish is smooth, creamy with a slight herbal hop aftertaste. Nothing compares to brewery fresh beer compared to one that may have been sitting for a few months. Most excellent brown ale. dogfishho (172), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Poured from a tap, the appearance was a deep, deep red that appeared nearly black. The head was quite thin and nearly gone by the time it got to my table. The aroma was somewhat woody, but light and sweet. The flavor was a nice, chewy, nutty flavor with some notes of caramel, wrapped up in a creamy mouthfeel and a clean finish on the palate. Very nice brown ale. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2007 12 ounce bottle from a mixed summer 12 pack. Aroma is a bit metallic, with some sweet chocolate milk-like aromas present, too. A small amount of anise, but the metallic aroma seems to dominate. Transparent dark amber/light mahogany body with a small light tan head. Light metallic start, which becomes roasty and VERY reminiscent of kettle popcorn/caramel popcorn. Thin, straight forward, flavorful, easy-drinking brown ale. It’s good for what it is. Much better than I initially thought. 1FastSTi (2569), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Pours to a deep brown body with a tall ultra creamy rocky tan head. Awesome lacing and a lively bubbling head. The aroma is nutty silage. Peanuts, maple, molasses. The flavor is dark sugar, molasses, nicely toasted barley, subtle nuts. Something I can’t quite put my finger on. Sort of like a milky cereal. The palate is carbonated, light, refreshing, and subtlety nutty. jhwarfield (123), USA

Solid beer, with a catchy name, but not a top pick. Poors dark brown with a brownish pebbly head. very little hops, nice molasis flavor. roder60 (1027), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Great name. Pours a nice deep brown color with nice hed retention throughout. Flavor and aroma are light and fruity yet kinda nutty. Not overly complex tasting. Very well balanced though between fruit and nuts which not many browns do well. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear, dark brown color with a purple tint and a medium, off-white head. Slight lacing. Sweet, nutty aroma. Nice mouthfeel. Sweet malty flavor with a nutty aftertaste. Above-average brown ale. Bradrcr (781), Renton, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2007 On Draught at Washington Brewers Festival. Aroma is roast malt forward, balanced by reasonable hop flora. Color is dark amber, with a light tan head; medium retention. Flavor is a fairly even hop/malt blend forward, followed by some more floral hop tones. Medium bodied, with med-high carb texture. Not bad; first time I’d actually had it on draught.
