Commercial Description:
Moose Drool is our Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. Our brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.

Bottled (at Chriso, BB 08/2009). Dark nut brown color, small beige head. Caramel and cardboard in the nose. Caramelly, slightly tart flavor. Some cardboardish hops. Standard boring brown ale. Needs more fresh bottle, I think.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of brown sugar, slight coffee, slight sugar, slight toasting, slight caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Poured brown in color with a small to medium-sized tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, light brown sugar, roasting, slight cocoa, slight caramel, and a hint of nuts. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, brown sugar, malt, and slight nut finish.

"I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this beer. Rogue’s brown ale is by far my favorite but this was really enjoyable also. Dark brown pour with a tan head, coffee, sugar, malts in the smell. Good stuff!"

Pours a dark reddish brown with a lot of tan head. Aroma is hoppy with an alcohol bite. Flavor is mild, with a bit of coffee and caramel and a slightly hoppy aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel and a tad watery, but better as its temperature rose in the glass. Not bad.

On tap at Pour 24 in Vegas. Brown colour, with a spicy nut aroma. Slight hop taste with caramel and malt. Pretty good brown ale.

Had this 8 years ago in Montana. Glad to see it’s distributed nationwide. Deep brown and clear, almost looks like a porter. The head is modest and fades quickly. Sharp, roast malt aroma. Sweet with a medium body. The malt flavor hints at chocolate and smokiness.
