alexanderj (1229), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 On tap at Yard House in Brea, I think it is fairly new; color of dark brown (probably a bit daker than most). Aroma of caramel, cocoa and chocolate. Flavor of toasted biscuit, caramel and a touch of slight cocoa. Pretty good for the style. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA Aug 28, 2008 12 oz bottle. Dark brown with an off-white head. Malt and caramel aromas. Balanced flavors with a hoppy bitter finish. PsionSaint (51), Colorado, USA Aug 26, 2008 On tap at local minor league ballpark. Very brown (fitting for a brown ale no?) with good balance of malt/hops. An easy drinking beer with subtle flavors. Brewsmith (52), Torrance, California, USA Aug 26, 2008 From a 12 oz. bottle purchased locally. Aroma is malty with some earthy hop aroma. Deep reddish brown with a small, tight tan head. Malt flavor is toasty, biscuity and a little roast in there, malty but not overly sweet. There’s plenty of hop bitterness to balance. Easy drinking and finishes dry. Very balanced. A great brown ale. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA Aug 20, 2008 pours a nice dark caramel brown with red highlights and a one finger fluffy brown head. aroma is fresh lightly toasted caramel malt with a touch of hops and something else i cant put my finger on. has a light to medium body with good lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but a bit stronger and has a little bit of pine thrown in. not to bad of a brown, i like a little more hops in a brown, but not bad really fresh tasting. also it is a little light for a brown. this is my 4th and final beer out of the combo 12 pack, i had the ipa before and that is still the best one. i would rank the others as follows: moose drool, trout slayer and then summer honey. the aroma does fall off a bit on this one as it warms. i am putting my finger on a little dry dark chocolate cocoa powder.
