FlyingSwine (143), Littleton, Colorado, USA Sep 4, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a nice one finger head. Held to a light, it is fairly clear and amber. Excellent malty aroma or chocolate, coffee and nuts. Flavor is more balanced than the aroma, but a bit astringent. Some spice and hops (can’t taste the Goldings) with a touch of weak coffee. Palate isn’t as creamy as I hoped, and finishes a bit dry for my tastes. Overall a good, but not great Brown ale.
kosko20 (199), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Dec 2, 2008 A very nice brown ale. Nice pour of a dark caramel brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is malty of caramel and nuts but with a nice chocolate aftertone and a slight hop presence. Flavor is much of the same with a good bitter finish. Creamy texture and very easy to drink. Oscbert (304), Sacramento, California, USA Dec 1, 2008 ~Pours a rich amber brown color with small off white head.
~Crystal caramel malts, raisin, sweet chocolate malts, and nuts in the scent.
~Caramel malt taste, as well as raisins.
~Medium feel, smooth, bitter aftertaste.
~Well made brown ale, lots of scents and flavor make this an interesting brew. RuneStumo (158), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway Nov 28, 2008 04.11.2008. On Tap at the coast Wenatchee Center Hotel, Wa. Dark brown colour. Aroma is rich and sweet. Very nice. DragonsHead (118), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 27, 2008 This was a nice brown ale, with a tiny seet aroma. The taste gave me a well balanced example of the style, with a twist. Glad to have the chance to taste. Thanks Mark. Carl99Fan (174), Suwanee, Georgia, USA Nov 27, 2008 Big fan of dark beers...this did not disappoint. Great name, great flavor. Tried to have one at every stop during my recent trip to MT. Extremely smooth, one of the more enjoyable beers I have ever had.
