douglas88 (1555), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 7, 2009 750 ml bottle thanks to Eric, the last brew of the night. I was perhaps a bit tipsy by this point, but anyway. Bottle number 915/1800. Pours a cloudy red color with a huge beige head. The nose is sweet, light malts and barrel. The flavor was warm; light fruit, spices, caramel, not very hoppy. An interesting brew. hopdog (5525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 22, 2009 750ml bottle. Bottle # 1384 of 1800. Poured a medium and clear reddish/copper color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of oaky/woodiness, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and fruity. Tastes of bourbon, vanilla, lighter woodiness, caramel, and dark fruits. Some alcohol in the finish. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2009 Pretty good barrel aged barley wine. Semi sweet malts with plenty of bitter hops balanced well with the boozy barrel character. A bit on the light bodied side with an oily slickness. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Aug 18, 2009 OK. This is a bummer. Why did they alias the bourbon barrel aged version to the regular? Whatever. 18 bottles in existence? Wow. 2005. Malty, amber color, Buttery oaky sweetness. Seaoffloydster tasting. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Jul 26, 2009 Sampled at MuckFest 09! Had sampled the bourbon barrel version.Poured a deep reddish brown color with a small head. Flavor was sweet, caramel with the dark fruits.Flavor was a copy of the nose with some of the booze coming out.Finished off with a slight warming hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 26, 2009 Thanks to Savvy1982 for sharing. Pours s hazy burnt orange with a large white head. Aroma is very fruity and bourbony. Pineapple, oak, vanilla, coconut, starfruit, strawberries, and musty orange peels. It tastes very bourbony as well. Loads of oak, vanilla, pineapple, caramel, and lots of coconut... Not a huge fan of coconut. But still nice tasting. Mouth feel is quite nice. Decent. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark cherry red, with an eggshell head, and spotty lacing at best, head is persistent though. Nose is very fruity and bourbony. Fresh, ripe, pineapple, booze/bourbon, hops, and oak in the nose. Palate is more oak, sour cherries, soft fruit, quite good, and better than it smells. Good, but the bourbon really takes over on this one. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 26, 2009 750 ml bottle poured a clear brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness, vanilla and light oxidation. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, toffee, light fruittiness, light vanilla and light oak with a smooth dry malty finish.
