Golden amber colour. Huge bourbon-mint character. Some malty tang, full big malt and lots of earth. Caramel and boozy bourbon nuances.

Mar 2, 2008 Dark, thick, cloudy apricot color, slight head. bitter, sour, bourbony aroma. sweet, friuty (don’t know what kind of fruit - not exactly sour, but leathery. not a bad brew, but i didn’t quite get what the brewer was trying to accomplish here (i may have been a bit too critical on this beer).

Feb 25, 2008 Sample at Strong Beer Fest 08 Mesa, AZ. Rusty brown body thin head. Body texture was thick and sweet rum flavors were good and also some bread and wheat notes detected in flavor. Wish coould of had full pint of this one. Oh I did went back for seconds.

Feb 19, 2008 Draft. 2006 Vintage. Rich amber beer with a cream-colored head. Malt and caramel aroma. Malty, caramel, citrus flavor. Medium body. Lingering caramel, citrus, light pine, light earth. Nice balance on a barleywine. Alcohol doesn’t seem this high.

Feb 18, 2008 Poured a slightly hazed red amber color with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma was sweet and fruity with some earthy and odd notes to it. Some alcohol fumes. The flavor was sweet and earthy with some dark fruit and a hoppy bitter finish. Medium bodied and warming.

Feb 14, 2008 From a 750 ml bottle--Poured a dark amber with nonexistent head. Caramel, sticky, sweet flavor with a mild hop presence. Not a lot of carbonation, but pretty enjoyable. Quite unique and enjoyable.

Feb 13, 2008 ’04 bourbon barrel aged keg at Hard Liver 2006. Garnet color with a tight head, nice lacing. Good malty alcohol, and mellow bourbon nose. Medium thick body. Good taste with a big pit fruit and spicy sweetness with hints of the bourbon and wood. Vintage and barrel aged, hard to go wrong with that.

Nov 11, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Kyzr. Huge aroma of bourbon accompanied by notes of cherries, plums, dates, tobacco, and alcohol. Pours a murky brown with a thin head. Flavor is a mixture of all of the aromas with a dominant bourbon base rounded out by the fruity aspects of the beer. This one got better as it warmed and proved amazing to sip as the Mosely - Cotto fight wore on. Thick and complex. An awesome barley wine!
