Powder Hound is our Winter Ale, and since it is our own creation we call it a Northern Rockies Strong Ale. Powder Hound satisfies, with the fine hand selected British hops fully complimenting the smooth malt notes. After a day on the ice or in the snow, enjoy a Powder Hound Winter Ale. Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear reddish amber with minimal light tan bubbles. Rich malts, wood, earthy hops, fruit, spice and some molasses. Oily texture and moderately carbonated. Ending is warm, malty and sweet with notes of fruit and flowers.

Good winter ale, nice caramel and fruity notes without overwhelming alcohol or hop. Great balance for a drinkable beer. A nice departure from the flood of spiced, over hopped and over sweet beers.

Thanks to Jake for another winner. This one pours clear deep coppery ruby colored, with a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, sour mashy fruit, hops, figs, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Tastes caramel malty as a base, with hints of figgy fruit, brown sugar, spices, and plum notes.

Very drinkable beer for the winter. Powder hound is a classic choice for those eager to ride the mountain. I like the spice and prefer it over snow cap.

6.2 alcohol is not that noticeable. I like this more than the few other "winter" spiced ales and largers I’ve tried

Best of the three winter ales I had (Sam Smith, FullSail) but still omly good not great. Dark amber with thin white head. Smells of malt, sugars or fruit.

Bottle. Pours clear medium amber. Thin off white filmy head. Neutral nose. A little funky. Crisp, forward attack. Active carb. Resiny c-hop comes through at the end.

12 oz. Bottle. Can notice alcohol and a fairly stong sweet fruit aroma. Amber body with off white head. The flavor had a sugar candy and sweet fruit flavor with an alcohol warming effect. If you like sweet beer this may be for you.
