The aroma is sweet caramel and chocolate, some grassy hops and a little cherry.
The flavor is sweet toffee malts with some slightly tart cherry fruitiness and a musty earthiness - kind of a strange combination. It is medium bodied and has a good level of carbonation.
Overall, it’s nice and is drinkable, but not too exciting. It seemed like more of a fruit beer than a pale ale. howie (549), DeForest, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Amber brown body, short white head. Sweet malty, slightly woody, slightly herbal aromas. Sweet maltiness with a tannic tea-like bitterness in the background. Leans too far to the sweet side and never really satisfies. BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA

This was just not a great winter warmer. Some people say to give it time to gain flavor I think this beer is missing it’s winter flavor and will never gain it. I am hoping this is just a bad bottle. aracauna (2383), Georgia, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2005 In the bottle. Reddish brown in color with a tan head. Toasted aroma. The first taste wave is sweetness. Then something odd happens: you get this amazingly weird grass taste. Beer finishes with an odd ketone off-flavor. This is a strange one indeed.
