Sweet medium toaste malt with a hint caramel flavor. Metallic-ish end with only a little hop character. Big body, good balance. Rather reserved but quality brewing and well done overall. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2005 Nice amber color, small cushion of a head, no visible carbonation. Medium hops and also malt-caramel nose. Honey and caramel taste with a herbal - sage - finish. Thin bodied. Thanks a lot arnoud for putting that into our suitcase! 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 27, 2005 I sampled this on 2/22/05. Aroma: light bread. Plum, apple, honey. A bit weak. Low rating on aroma because of weakness. Appearance: small frothy head. Virtually no head. White in color with fair lacing. Fully diminishing. Body was clear and flat. Medium red hue. Flavor: Light sweetness. Average finish. Palate: light to medium, oily watery texture. Flat and light astringent. Overall, very original tasting beer. Never had anything like it. Weird. Flavor has herbs? Very odd and confusing. I didn’t really like this one. mobrew (19), Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2005 This has a very nice ruby color along with flavors of carmel and licorce. the hop bitterness is only slight and makes this a very will liked and easy to drink brew. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2005 12 oz bottle. Deep, slightly translucent chestnut topped with a stable quarter-inch of off-white foam and a touch of lacing....caramel, licorice and tobacco noted in the appealing aroma...creamy vanilla, cherry in a vinous, slightly nutty body, with a late touch of whiskey and pecans...pepper and nutmeg late...full, very slightly syrupy body. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2005 Poured from a bottle: Nice, rich & nutty aroma. Copper-colored with ruby edges. Decent tan head that settles into a good lacing. Initial taste is nutty toffee followed by mild hopping. Full mouthfeel and "just right" carbonation. This brew is very good. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2005 Slightly murky hazel brown pour with copious off-white head, complemented by thick sheets of lacing. No aroma. Extreme caramel and toasted nut flavors. The malt in this beer is fantastic. Smooth on the palate, with a smack of sweet cinnamon and apple. Extremely drinkable and rich. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Lots of malt and very balanced with some mild hops. Almost like a vienna, IMHO. Sweet beer, too, with lots of toffee and caramel. Very nice. Richly crafted.
