ALLOVATE (1127), Perth, Australia Apr 15, 2007 Special promotion batch at the Beer Store Morley.
From the bottle into a mug at just on cold. Had to really rouse it to produce some life off the pour ending in a ’Real ale’ looking still beer in the glass. Light, floating island of froth atop a bright, medium amber body that had only a few wisps of visible, fine carbonation. Subtle grapefruit and pine nose, a little trailing pineapple perhaps. Almost still in the mouth bar a feint prickle upfront. Level peaking woodiness and pale nut notes balance some supple, juicy grapefruit and pineapple flavours and finish in back with a sharp, vinous bitterness before a rather dry, vinous and slightly fruity swallow with good length. Very smooth and comfortable mouthfeel, not too heavy at all and highly sessionable. This was a good way to kick off tasting these beers. Very nice, very pleasant session ale. (0421, 33cL)
