harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jan 10, 2006 This one had a very fragrant aroma, pungent with lots of leather and tobacco and that musky horsesaddle aroma. Pours a rich mohogany color, with a nice amber head. Lots of herbal and mineral flavors and some girtty spiciness, this could be a little bigger, but overall is not a bad beer, for one pint. bu11zeye (3628), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 8, 2006 (Draught, Horse Brass Pub) Pours a mahogany body with a moderate creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, pine, and spice. Flavor of malt, candy sugar, nuts, toffee, and hops. DA (2376), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Dec 4, 2005 This was a really interesting beer, tastes like those chocolate covered cherries and wallnuts. Flavor was a bit to bitter, didn’t quite hit the balance, but lots of nuttiness and some spice comes through. A light herbal qualty comes out in the finish with the hops. Smells just like the holiday, but the flavor came up a bit short of that, but still not a bad beer at all. JoeMcPhee (3671), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 6, 2004 Portland Holiday Ale Festival 2004. Very dark brown with a thick off-white head. Sweet spicy malty aroma, piny/spruce aroma, light spiciness. Sweet malty cooked toffee, piny resinous hop flavour but surprisingly low bitterness. Nice spicy finish.
