Moderately deep amber colored ale with nice carbonation. Pleasant prickliness develops in the mouth working synergistically with the candi malts. Hoppiness continues to develop as well as some green complexity. A nicely balanced strong ale.

Mahogany with a beige head and strong lacing. Big toffee and a hint of spice in the nose. Bitter hops with some all spice or nutmeg maybe. Some brown sugar. Big caramel malts in the flavor along with more brown sugar. Bitter hops and alcohol accompany dark fruits. Sticky palate with a sweet malty finish.

Sampled draught at Bill’s Tavern, Cannon Beach
Amber color, light lacing. Nose of tart cherries and buttered popcorn, some fig & persimmons too. The flavor is lightly salty & the alcohol is up there, reminds me of a fishy smell.

True to its name.... Definitely a worthy brew, very rich looking, darker than I expected and yes very strong. Don’t know if I could handle more than one at a time.
