Commercial Description:

A deep red beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of berries, but also lighter notes of alcohol and metal. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of berries and metal from the alcohol. And a nice body.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, reddish brown with a small, creamy, beige head. Strong aroma of roasted malt. Solid and very full body with lots of delicate, roasted malt accents. Slightly perfumy somehow - not really what you’d expect in a German beer. Discreet bitterness. 210906 and 291206

Bottle, 7.5%. Nicely malty flavour with a good pepperiness. Slightly oxidized, just enough so that it is good. Warming alcohol.

Dark amber. Just caramel aroma and flavor; good body strength, some malt, pretty strong final.

Bottle
Dark amber color; big creamy head. Very good body structure, but not enough supported by good aromas in the nose and the palate; loads of caramel, some malt.

I brought this bottle home from Germany to share with ratebeer friends, and it was good. Pours dark red brown with a big beige head, beautyful! the aroma is caramel, dusty hay and hops, and the taste is caramel rye bread and a bit of alcohol, smooth. Medium body with a sweet finish, a good Doppelbock.

Malty bit smoky aroma, that is hard to trace. Sweet flavor, peppery with some roasted malt. Hopbitter, slightly alcoholic finish. Nice doppelbock, but doesn’t stand out in any way. 5 4 7 3 12 = 3.1 A later sample impressed me much more. Deep dark brown color, creamy head. Roast aroma with cacao. Roastbitter flavor with dark chocolate. Malty sweetish. Medium to full bodied. Quite likeable, tasty doppelbock.
