has a clear dark red pour with an off-white head, there is quite a bit of effervescence after the pour that tapers off, aromas of apple cider and vinegar, candy and light brown sugar sweetness with caramel, a mix of fruit and berry sour on the nose, flavor of caramel, sweet and sour fruit-berries that borders on cherry and raspberry, just not clearly defined as I have found with some better sours, some citrus on the palate, the sweet and sour are evenly matched and come across as a little boring and not as intense as some of the better beers, this is an ok drink.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2009 First sour that I’ve tried. Pours brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and, of course, sour. Taste is sour cherries. Huge sweetness up front that mellows towards the end. Different and interesting. gracefullypunk (327), Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 2, 2009 I love sours, so my vote may be biased. This one was smooth and extremely drinkable--not too sour. Pours a pretty red and has a hint of cherry in it. MrBunn (1551), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2009 On tap at Monks Cafe. Pours a ruby brown with a thin but dense head. Aromas are of tart cherries with a little bit of a damp basement edge to them. Flavor much sweeter than I expected, especially up front and in the finish. There is a brief sour cherry interlude in the middle, but otherwise this is just a bit too sweet for my needs. Blake (223), Orange, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 28, 2009 A pleasant sour ale. Small bottle, pours a light reddish yellow with an adequate head and slight lacing. Aroma is fruity, cherries, sugar, a bit musty as well. I like the flavor of this ale, better than the Flemish Primitive I had before. Sweet with a cherry, earthy finish. Not too sweet or sour, just right for a Flemish in my opinion. jgd0608 (187), Zeeland, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2009 Bottle. Monk’s Cafe Flemish sour ale. Pours a deep red, big light brown head. Notes are light cherries with a hint of musk. Not a very tart beer at all, but a great mouthfeel, just the slightest hint of cherries, even creamy with a good amount of carbonation. If this was 2 bucks instead of 3 it would definetly be my new session beer. Very very drinkable and tasty. boFNjackson (1319), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Bottle... Poured deep burgundy with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruits like cherries and brown sugar. Not too dry, but a little dryness to complement the carbonation and tasted of tart cherries and sweet tones. A little metallic character came through before the finish and contained a little acidity.
