Initial flavors of sweet cherries and grape juice. Flavors move towards tart undertones by mid-palate, forwarding lemon juice, citric acid, and candi sugar. Overall, a tasty beer, but after awhile I’d prefer the cherry-sweetness to be toned down. roborb (60), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2009 This beer poured a ruby, hazy red color with a very thin head. The aroma was teh best part of this beer. It smelled of candy, sugar, and cherries. I found the beer to be overly sweet at first sip but as the beer warmed it started getting more sour. This would be a great transitional beer for someone getting into sours. SamGamgee (1465), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2009 33cl bottle, as Monks Cafe Flemish sour Ale. Crystal clear dark crimson with a lasting light beige head. Sweet aroma, with fruity cherry, light apple vinegar, and some wood. Sweet and fruity, with a light tart finish that comes off like a berry cider. Medium bodied with a slightly sticky feel. This got considerably better as it warmed if that makes any sense, as I initially thought that it was all sugary sweetness. Something about the aroma is captivating, but the flavor is a little to sweet and not sour enough for my tastes. It seems odd that a lot of ratings mention this as hazy or murky and not very sweet, because my bottle was clearly filtered crystal clear and was on the sweet side avilla (12), , Italy

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2009 A so so sour ale on tap at Barley’s and Hop’s in South Park. Aroma was decent. Sour cherry with light fruit and just a hint of cough medicine. Pour was a nice deep murky dark amber/near brown with a one finger tan head. Taste was a little on the weak side as far as the sourness goes, but not too bad. All sour cherry with nice carbonation. This is a good stepping stone for those who don’t like sours to get into the style. railcat1 (582), Orlando, Florida, USA
