| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours red/orange with a tan head. Sour aroma. Vinegar....balsamic vinegar....maybe this beer would go good with some bread and olive oil? Interesting, but not for me. Taverner (886), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2008 Updated: Sep 16, 2009I’m sorry - I just don’t "get" the sour ale. Yes it’s very aromatic, yes it has a very complex flavor that grabs the palate. But no, I didn’t like it. Very sour and offensive to me. SECOND ANALYSIS: Being more of a fan of sours now, I like this one. Very sweet and sour. ILoveNewBeer (113), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2008 I’m not too fond of this brew but it does have a good taste to it. I was looking for an ale that was a little more sour. I’d say it’s worth trying if you like trying new things, but my curiosity has been satisfied. At least for this beer. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a small but lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of tart cherries and light caramel. Taste is the same as aroma with a hint of vinegar. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness, moderate carbonation, and a mild to moderate amount of acidity that is very well balanced. An easy drinking sour ale. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2008 12ish oz, bottle claiming Monks Cafe Flemish Sour Red, pours a nice dark ruby, with small off white head. good amount of bubbles breaking through the head, however the flavor is mildly acetic but lacking any fruit distinction i dont really find any raspberries or other fruits perhaps i am missing the idea behind Sour Ale. still not bad, and great to sip on a sour every once in a while. gator2683 (141), Anchorage, Alaska, USA
