Very pretty. Acidic, tart berry nose. Sour cherry flavors, some woodiness, yeasty. Reminds me of a fresh Dutchess. Nice. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2008 11.2 oz. bottle on 1/26/2008. This bottle was labeled, "Monk’s Cafe." Clear, deep ruby pour with a tan head that collapsed quickly, but left some respectable lace in a Belgian tulip. Fruity aroma with some traces of vinegar. Medium body with fairly lively carbonation, and very palate cleansing quality. Sour and acidic, but not overly so, and there is an underlying fruity sweetness that helps to balance. Tart finish without any bitterness, but with the aforementioned sweetness persisting in the background. MarkBarnes (266), Waterville, New York, USA

Dark brown with tan head, resembles a Belgian Quad. Moderate aroma. Acidic, tart fruit flavor, with vinegar notes that I found off-putting. guzzler67 (1283), Hanover, Maryland, USA

Red/brown color with a small beige head. Aroma: A bit different from the other Sour Ales I tried this day. Notes of wood, earth, caramel, sour cherries, tart, light vinegar. Flavor: Very sour with notes of vinegar, red berries, sour wine, citrus. Less sweetness then other beers of this style. Interesting to try it, but nothing for me. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA

Sour fruit aroma along with a little bit of burnt malt. Taste is sour fruit with just a little sweetness followed by an almost overwhelming metallic bitterness & a bit of vinegar. One of the least enjoyable sour beers I can remember having. BeerBelcher (943), Columbus, Ohio, USA

It poured a clear, brilliant red color with a sparkling head of tiny bubbles. Aroma was sour with red wine vinegar notes and cherry fruitiness. Flavor was very sour, and dominated by cherries (and delicious BTW). Mouthfeel was smooth and made me pucker. This beer was quite good.
I’d highly recommend this beer, if you’re into sour.
