Mild sour aroma and taste. Ok but not one of the better ones in the style. bhensonb (4365), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Bottle as Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. The aroma is not all that sour. There is some sour cherry and arguably wood. The color is hazy dark amber with a white head that escaped immediately. Thinnish body with decent carbonation. The flavor is sourish cherry with a tinge of acidity. Truthfully it’s not all that sour, but it is refreshing. The finish is lightly sour, lightly acidic and pretty dry. Puts a twist on the palate. I strongly recommend it. Speedle (262), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Bottle. Brown color with a sour cherry aroma. The appearance is is little unexpected because it looks a little light for the style. Flavor is also light but still what you expect. Smoother than other Red Sours I have thus tried. It does not seem to have any aged aspect to the flavor. robertjm (413), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Pours nice tight foamy head which lasts for a bit in the glass. Dark brown with little light coming through it. Nice sour aroma. Unfortunately, the sourness isn’t as pronounced in the taste. Going down its more watery than anything, though there is a little chase of sourness to it. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Nose-woody, medium sour, dried cherries, light funk. Taste-low sour, light unsweet berry, wood, dry, very light funk, puckering on the back end, champagne like, apple, lychee, white grape, light acid. Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 3, 2007 This beer wasnt bad it wasnt good, it was barely mediocre. Pours a medium red maroonsih color with little bubbles on top representing the head. Nose is fruity with cherries and a little vinegar. Flavor is sour but not over powerful sour, just slight sour. Cherries and mild malt also show their faces. Overall it was actually a boring beer to drink, kept me up watching Heroes and did an ok job with that, but barely. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2007 330ml bottle, Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. Fruity, lightly sweet and tart aroma, seemingly ripe with some red grape, apple cider and cherry notes along with hints of musty yeast, wood, earth, black bread and dried flowers. Dark red color, mostly clear, with a lasting, fine head of pale tan. Flavor is fairly tart and sour throughout but not bracingly so, with a mildly bitter tang in the middle and finishing with a long blend of tart sweetness and dark fruits, a vinous and very lightly acetic character, and a lingering dried, leafy, herbal quality. Drying and refreshing on the palate, thin and moderately effervescent with a medium body. Agreeable sourness and a slight complexity, very drinkable interpretation.
