Commercial Description:
Also called “Monk’s Café Flemish Sour Red Ale”

We blend young and old beers to make this mildy tart sour ale. Light bodied with a lactic/sour nose and a bit of sweet and sour in the finish. Very refreshing!

Bottle with thanks to MrBunn! Pours a dark ruby with a foamy cream colored head. Nose is mostly light vinegar and cherry/apple cross. Not real sour, but still respectable with the smoothness of it all.flavor is mostly the cherry/ aplle cross with light Brett funk. Nice.

Has a nice deep brown color. Aroma is of bitterness alright. I smell some type of vinegar, not sure what type. I smell a tequila type of scent also. Has a little bit of fruit scent hidden behind all of it. Taste is quite sour. This is the first sour I’ve had so I’m not sure how they are supposed to taste but I could get used to this. I tend to like bitter and vinegar type of things so I kind of like this.

Bottle. Dirty red pour with a light tan head. Aroma of musty malt, tart cherry...bit of yeast and spice. Flavors of bready musty malt, light brown sugar, grape skin, dried fruits, bit of tartness. Medium/light body, lightly tart and sweet with a bitter/dry finish. Pretty mellow as far as sours go, but overall refreshing and pretty tasty. It’s nice to have a sour every now and again that doesn’t knock you on your ass with acidity.
