| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Jun 12, 2001 Updated: May 7, 2006My first Birell was from Switzerland but I didn’t have any real notes on it, so this re-rate is based on a can from Al-Ahram of Egypt, purchased at my local halal meat shop. The colour is light gold, kind of dull, and there is not much head. The aroma has a lightly toasted malt character with a hint of bread, along with somewhat pee-like hops and distinct brussel sprout. The body is kind of watery, the flavour like hollowed-out grain husks with a hint of rooty hop. My first notes simply said "There are worse" and that’s true, but this is no prize. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

This is the beer that all the true moslems are drinking all the time. If they ever tried any other beer, they would probably never drink this awful beer again. It is completely watery with some disgusting chemical notes. I suspect that this is carbonated Nile water mixed with urine to get the colour. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
