omhper (10393), Stockholm, Sweden May 8, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear amber, rich dense head. Strong aroma of lychee and grapefruit. Medium sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Hop aromatic the American way with gooseberry and grapefruit. less powerful salty bitterness.
Skinnyviking (2597), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. High and lasting creamy off-white head. Hazy dark amber body. Plums and raisin aroma with some caramel. Hops caramel flavor with lemon notes. Low carbonation. Long bitter aftertaste. MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 9, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Blooming flowery hoppiness is balanced by cuddly caramel malts before earthy, resinous hop bitterness settles on the tongue in this very drinkable and amenable hop fix of American inspiration.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A crown of foam tops the misty amber.
-The hops are quite fruity too, developing a wide range of citrus fruit.
-The finishing hop bitterness is as complex and pleasant as the aroma.
-Malts are maybe linear, but they do their job admirably well in balancing out this IPA and creating a smooth mouthfeel.
-For Italy this is very hoppy, but amongst its peers on the American West Coast, it would not stand out as much. Still, this does not take anything away from this wonderfully quenching and expressive Italian IPA.
