Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Thick opaqueness. Light blonde. Complex aroma of strawlike malts, tea. Soft malt, tea, slightly floral. Slightly tannic at the back, but that’s quite minimal, maybe the least of any tea beer I’ve had. Balanced, refreshing, very drinkable. Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Feb 17, 2008 Opaque, but very, very pale yellow. Tiny white head. Very well extracted tea flavour immediately escapes the bottle once it’s opened. Fresh, herbal., leafy… even more pronounced in mouth. Zesty, lemony, fresh acidity. Sweetness kept under control. Excellent small-bubbled carbonation constantly regenerates the tastebuds. Marvellous acidity all throughout. Refreshing wheat profile. Very light, but still excellent beer. hopscotch (4588), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Apr 10, 2008 Bottle... Cloudy straw-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent, fat-bubbled retention. The aroma offers notes of coriander, white pepper and lemon. I dislike coriander so much that I would have preferred the olive/vinegar/caper aroma sensed by those who sampled and rated this brew before me. Alas, none of that in my bottle. Light to medium-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and ticklish carbonation. The flavor is dominated by coriander spiciness with moderate pale grain sweetness and light pungency. Crisp, spicy, lightly acidic finish. Interesting, but spendy, and not really my cup of Tè. BückDich (4558), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle: Pours a golden yellow color with a light white head. The nose is grassy with some light wood and toasty pale malts, some mild yeast esters and a touch of green hops. The flavor is slightly astringent reminiscent of tea along with pear and some hop bitterness. Grassy, fruity and floral towards the end. Fairly timid yet it’s interesting for the whole glass. JorisPPattyn (4500), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 24, 2007 Little head, orange-yellow beer with green sheen. Sherry-ish, vegetal aroma and lots of citrus in the nose - but tea? Tannines, and their astringency appear in taste & mouthfeel. Again mainly citrus flavours. Apart from the astringency, quite sour. Not great, but consistently OK.
