PilsnerPeter (1394), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle: Pours cloudy golden with a thick frothy white head. Aroma is sweet and herbal with a touch of doughy pale malt, honey and sweet/natural green tea. Very interesting aroma. Fluffy light body.Mild flavor but with distinct character. Honeyish with light dough notes and evident green tea character. Surprisingly reminiscent of green tea with honey. An herbal touch, along with residual spiciness and mild hop dryness into the finish. Fairly mild, but it’s very interesting and individualistic. It works in it’s subtly.
Beershine (1214), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 3, 2008 Hazy golden yellow with off-white small head. Fresh, spritzy, slightly citrus hop. Soft mouthfeel. Flavors are slightly sweet, with herbal and orange overtones. Pilsner-like at times. Not pulling a lot of tea from it but it’s a nice brew and I don’t drink tea. RomanW70 (284), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 17, 2008 On tap at Bir & Fud on 7/6. Pours hazy gold with a frothy white head. Nose is grass, flowers, and light malts. Flavor is sinmilar with more pronounced tea notes. Finish is slightly bitter. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle: Pours a golden yellow color with a light white head. The nose is grassy with some light wood and toasty pale malts, some mild yeast esters and a touch of green hops. The flavor is slightly astringent reminiscent of tea along with pear and some hop bitterness. Grassy, fruity and floral towards the end. Fairly timid yet it’s interesting for the whole glass. Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Thick opaqueness. Light blonde. Complex aroma of strawlike malts, tea. Soft malt, tea, slightly floral. Slightly tannic at the back, but that’s quite minimal, maybe the least of any tea beer I’ve had. Balanced, refreshing, very drinkable.
