| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Pours a copperish/bronzish clear with a good thick head and wonderful lacing. Looks a bit light to me, but who knows?
Smells nice and malty with a bit of coffee and just a touch of nuttiness in there.
Tastes much better than anticipated, honestly. The maltiness is surely present out front with a nice coffee showing that I didn’t think would be there. Very well balanced, overall.
Feel is very good. Nice and creamy and easily slides down the throat. Could be a little bit thicker, but still very good.
Very tasty and drinkable (especially at 7.2 percent). I’d have no problem devouring quite a few of these.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 9, 2009 bottle. This was a pretty good beer. The aromas are pretty muted, with some caramel malts being prevalent. The color is fantastic, caramel colored with a brilliant red hue coming through. The flavors are good, lots of caramel, but with some spice and hops which ends up balancing it pretty well. It’s a little thin tasting, but very smooth. Wolfbass (89), Firenze, Italy
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 6, 2009 Color red-brown fire, with good abundant head. The aroma is of toasted malt, the body is full, and the good dry end, long and slightly spice. DBob5150 (40), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Fairly typical Euro doppelbock. Impressive head, nice medium amber body. Carmel/coffee aroma with a malty, nutty taste that finishes clean. Full bodied, but not overly heavy, recommended. ROGUE (676), Newark, Delaware, USA

The aroma is caramel, malts, and som light alcohol. Taste is sweet caramel malts, with some spicy hops. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and spicy. Thin body with soft carbonation. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Not a bad effort here. Very much in softly carbonated and cola flavoured vein but it works well. Flavours are a bit simple and sweet but reasonably faithful to the genre. Some stinky vegemite on the nose adds some character and there’s a minerally tang on the back palate that stops the flavours getting fat from the sweet malts. jaymobrown (1360), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2009 Had this during my trip to Italy. Didn’t know that they came in three packs. Darker color than the regular beer. Much more maltier and darker. Not really bitter--maybe a bit, but pretty mellow. For the supermarket in Rome, not too bad. Went back for more.
