Commercial Description:
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

33 cl...poured a rich copper-brown w/ a fluffy off-white head. Head stuck around for a bit, but not much lacing. Aroma of caramel and malts. Flavor was smoooooth as silk and featured malts, caramel, and a touch of hop bitterness. Very oily..coats the palate w/ that sweet caramel taste then has a nice bitter finish. Very solid and better than I expected.

Bottle- at Scapa. Dark brown, ruby red. Heavy, heavy malt nose and taste. Very sweet, with a bit of burnt bitterness at the end to keep it sane. Just a bit too sweet though.

Disappointing aroma, faint straw. Ruby red hue, tight tan head, low carbonation. Initial flavour of robust caramel and malt, long roasted malt finish with a hint of coffee, A pleasant oily on palate. Want more!

An interesting beer to try, much different than the other Italian beer I’ve sampled. This one pours a brown color, pretty good tan head but it diminishes to almost nothing about halfway through the beer. My first thought was that the aroma was like wine, suppose that makes sense since it’s Italian for one, and it has a relatively high abv (7.2). Malty, sugary sweet, spicy and pretty sour. There’s no hiding the alcohol in this one, as a matter of fact I’d use "alcohol" to describe some of the taste. I did enjoy this one, it is quite warming although the alcohol/sour flavor makes it mediocre.

A good buy from the grocery store. 7.99 six pack was well worth it. Pleasant and warm dark malt aroma with notes of mild coffee and caramel. Smooth to drink and a nice 7.2 ABV is well disguised by the flavor.

Pour is a deep mahogany red with a puffy but quickly disappearing light brown head. The nose is sweet, syrupy malts. The mouthfeel has a little carbonation, and is medium bodied. The taste is sweet almost like a light barley wine. Finish is a sweet alcohol.

Fairly light colored (almost a dark salmon tone)for a dunkler bock, with little lacing on the small head. Aroma of almonds, malts & alcohol. Very prickly. Flavor quite pleasantly sweet (turbinado sugar) and malty, with some faint bubblegum esthers. Some slight burning. Mild bitterness clearly overwhelmed by the other flavors.
