Commercial Description:
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

a passable italian beer (about time). this beer allowed me to idle away my time in my favorite italian hole in the wall and drink a passable beer (a nice break after having months and months of beautiful wines but horrible beers) it pours a clear ruddy amber with a khaki head that dissipated quickly. I had it both on tap and in bottles and was satisfied with the caramel/maltiness of the initial taste with a nice sweetness and slight fruit

THOUGHTS: Finally a beer from Italy that I think is good. Not great, mind you, but good. Like a more complex Sam Adams Winter Lager or a watered down Samichlaus. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark reddish amber with an off white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was grain, sweet malt and also caramel, apple, raisin, and port wine or bourbon. A little alcohol as well. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and acidic, while the finish was moderately to heavily sweet and acidic and sour. The flavor was mostly caramel malt and raisins with a slight bit of chocolate. The medium body was syrupy with lightly fizzy carbonation and a moderate to heavy astringent finish.

Bottle, bought @ Irma, Industriens Hus, Cph. Pours clear dark brown with a smallish and rather fizzy off white head. Aroma is sweet, rye bread, dried fruits. Nice, well-rounded mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, Belgian sugars, rye bread, raisins, quite malty. Finish is lightly vinious (not much compared to the 7.2 % ABV). There is some power of hops at the end as well. Quite nice.

Bottle. Clear, rich amber color with a white head. Fruity, malt aroma. Sweet and turning astringent mid-palate.

12oz bottle-pours a nice big retaining thick tan head and deep red color. Aroma is medium malt-sweet, dark fruit. Taste is dark/medium malt-sweet, dark fruit-a bit thick/syrupy/licorice, alcohol, secondary hops bite. OK carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

Bottle poured into dimpled mug. Clear mahogany colour with a thin tan head. Light nose with a little sweetness. Very creamy mouthfeel with a roasted malt flavour. Pleasant beer.

Bottle- Had this at dinner at an Italian restaurent tonight. Low lighting so I couldn’t really see the color, but it appeared reddisd brown with a small white head. Not much nose to it. Rich malty sweet flavor with some caramel and nuts. No hop bite for balance. Medium mouthfeel.
