Commercial Description:
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

Deep amber to brown pour. Subtle but pleasant malty aroma. Good malty flavor, too; along with rich dark fruits, figs, and nuts. Medium body with a good balance of all components.

Light brown head on a brown-red body. It may be prejudice but I expected a simple thirst-quencher from an Italian beer, especially after reading the brewery belonged to Heinineken. But this is different. It has a filling taste like Northern European beers, and is quite tasty with a meat dinner. I’m glad I lost some of my prejudices about Italiean beer.

Pours a deep brown color with a light brown head. Aroma is malty, nutty, and slightly hoppy. Flavor is malty, nutty, some roasted malts, and a slight hoppy finish.

Bottle. Brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma is malt & hops with a vague fruity note. Malty flavour with a roasted tone. Not bad!

Rated 1/29/06: I must admit that I was expecting either a big let down or something completely unexpected with this beer. Poured a really deep red color with decent head and moderate lacing. The aroma of this one was very good with hints of sweet malts, and a touch of hops. Flavor was exceptional, a sweet doppelbock that tends to bring you full circle with flavors of caramel and other tasty malts. This beer reminded me alot of Heineken’s Special Dark only much better. A very good beer all in all.
