Aroma was very light and was of sweet malt. There is a big malt taste up front with only a touch of alcohol, sweet, smooth and creamy just like a doppelbock should be. Of the half dozen doppelbocks I’ve tried this is second only to Paulaner Salvator, but then again I’m German not Italian. (Geez, no wonder I can’t get a date.)

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours amber with a thick off-white head. Aroma is caramel and nuts, slightly sweet. Flavor is moderately sweet malt, with some dark fruits, nuts, and tinge of alcohol. Velvety mouthfeel. Not quite on par with the best German and Austrian bocks, but good nonetheless, and a pleasant surprise for a bottle with the name "Moretti" on it! Poperinge (359), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada

Malty aroma, malty taste which also included some caramel, nuts. Not bad for my second beer from Italy. theisti (1692), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Bottle. Pour is reddish brown, aroma is malty with some sweetness. Taste is thinness malt and not much else. I had this with a garlic infused pizza, so maybe flavor was overwhelmed. Didn’t see much in it. I do agree with most posters that this is the best Italian beer I have had. I am sure there are many better examples that do not make it stateside. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Dark red-brown beer with a sweet malt aroma. Flavor is sweet malt and caramel, a bit of dark fruit, and a little tingly sharp. Not much hops or bitterness, nonexistant finish. This is my first sample of a "Dunkler Bock" and it didn’t wow me. Moderately enjoyable, and way better than the regular Moretti lager. Extra point for the 7.2% abv. Ostrovni (17), England

Great malt body, lots of dark fruit, and a powerful taste of alcohol that suits me just fine. Great on tap, try it in Venice and watch the world go by. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 20, 2007 I really want to like Beer from Italy...I really do. I just can’t yet. Aroma was nice and malty with hints of alcohol. The pour was brown with no head. The taste was not very strong but tasted of malts, Sugar Daddies and nuts. Mouthfeel was a little too thin and the taste died too quickly.
