| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2006 From a 12 oz. brown bottle with no freshness date.
Poured a clear ruby hued brown with a foamy off-white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
Malty nose, caramel and toffee, a mix of roast and toast dark malts, hints of sugary alcohol.
Nice moderate carbonation and a malty crisp, smooth light-medium bodied mouthfeel.
A velvety malty taste, caramel, chocolate and a molasses sweetness, a touch of fruitiness, an earthy bark in the middle, the alcohol is noticeable, but tasteless, and provides a warming presence in the palate, and a chocolate caramel malty finish with some metallic notes lingering in the palate, good doppelbock drinkability.
A tasty and balanced dopplebock from Italy at a affordable price, I am looking forward to trying this from the tap.
