Commercial Description:
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

Clear, medium brown with a nice tan head. Sweet malt aroma with a whiff of bread and toffee. Strong malty flavor with a floral/fruity hop finish. Could stand a bit more hops presence and some carbonation but still a very good and satisfying beer.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown color with a tan head that stays for a bit. Light and sweet aroma of malts with a touch of caramel. Smooth and sweet flavor, very malty, with a nice and sweet caramel middle and a sweet finish that leaves a light taste of caramel and fruits on the palate.

Nice dark amber bock with a thick, long-lasting tan head, which laces the glass, nicely as it slowly recedes. Caramel aroma and a spicy caramel, malty taste.

(01.18.06) 12 oz brown bottle purchased from Osteria Del Stato, Chicago, IL. Clear dark amber ale having a large giant long lasing head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Spicy caramel aroma. Medium-to-full bodied that starts with sweet malt and caramel and raisin flavors. Finishes with short-lived light hop bitterness. A very good smooth, malty sweet beer, more like a Winterbrew.

12 oz bottle - Thin head, reddish brown color. Sweet, malty flavor, some alcohol apparent, especially in the finish. The hops are very light and while this is a pretty good beer, I really think it could use more bite.

Reddish amber color with a thin, soapy head. Sweet, smoky taste filled with caramel flavors and roasted malts. Slightly nutty finish. Almost more of a red beer than a bock.
