Aroma and flavour is very pleasant and malty (caramel), perhaps even with hints of dark fruits. Balanced by a nicely bitter finish. The body is not "full" enough but otherwise a fine bock! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2005 First off, let me begin by saying im impressed. Not only does this beer taste half way decent it also gives the impression of looking and smelling like a good beer. In the aroma a strong presence of chocolate, malt, and caramel is heavily indicated in the nose. Color is a beautiful dark and mysterious brown or red color and holds a strong lasting head through out the drink. Flavor is okay and has a considerable amount of caramel and roasted malts. Finish is sweet and dry and holds up much better than the regular plain beer of Birra Moretti zathrus13 (1313), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2005 Read/brown pour, with a white head. Aromas are malt, hops, brown sugar, and fruit. Flavor is brown sugar, malt, and hops. Not as good as the aromas leads you to believe, but certainly not terrible either. nick76 (2684), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Toasted malt aroma with a candy smell accompanied by a light hopping. The appearance is a chocolate brown with a red hue. The head is rather unimpressive and evaporates fast. The flavor is much like wine and caramel with some coffee and a burnt malt taste. There is bitterness but it hits you in the finish and lingers. The palate is average. Overall its ok but a little overrated here. radagast83 (1315), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

As others have said, it has a very hoppy taste. Nice finish. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 29, 2005 Deep yeasty, malty nose, almost syrupy. Dark, dark red. Medium bubbles in an off-white head. Grainy, caramel, coffee flavors on the tongue. Lingering malt notes. Well carbonated. Its a good rich malty beverage. I’ll have to test out other bocks to find out if its true to the form, but it’ll do for now. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2005 Tasted this one from the bottle and poured it into a stem glass. Deep russet brown with very fine carbonation managing to raise only a short, soapy off-white head, that left a little legs. Not overly inviting nose; dry, musty and gritty, cereal grains with a light yeasty marmite note. Unusual mix of grainy malt beverage and Tawny port in the mouth, quite full-on in flavour and definitely not the light quaffer I was expecting. Rich, sweet, toffee and caramel, toasted grain and bready, nutty notes; vinous Merlot grapes and fresh picked plums and dates. Dries out in the back and the finish is shorter than the palate would suggest with only a light, lingering alcohol and wine-like feel. Sprightly carbonation on the tongue, light bodied, yet reasonably smooth, it went down easily but I don’t think a six pack of them would go down the same. Quite surprised by this one. Unusual interpretation of a Bock, but it worked and made for a pleasant end to my day. Quite nice.
