| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 24, 2005 Pours brownish amber with a tan head. Aroma seems typical for a bock beer to me. Taste is also hard for me to quantify. Not remarkable to me. tjthresh (1780), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 11, 2005 Moderate malt presents in the aroma. Big hit right off the bat. Toast, caramel, raisin, and cherry are there, but had to search. Brown with some red highlights. Fair head. Flavor was lacking also. It was there, but restrained. Very lively, medium bodied. Alcohol was not hard to find. Over all a good beer, but not a good example of the dopplebock. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 8, 2005 12 oz. bottle. poured brown with a nice white head that lasted the bottle and left nice lacing as well. Aromas of malty caramel and dark fruits. Flavors were a bit nutty and still malty. Slightly bitter finish, with some nutty aftertaste too. Not bad. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 25, 2005 Pours a clearish brown color, quite a bit of head. Aroma resembles a pale lager but not completely. Flavor is boring and unoriginal, yet the 7.2% is well masked. A "whatever" beer. Ughsmash (4076), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2005 Poured a reddish-amber color with light creamy head. Aroma consisted of some roasted malt, including dark fruits and some caramel. Fruit, honey, and caramel were all present in the taste, and those flavors were decently balanced. Mouthfeel toward the back and the finish were slightly watery, and a little dark fruit remained. This was a decent example of the style. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2005 Poured a clear brown color with a golden tint. Malty aroma and flavor, sweet with brown sugar and som dark fruit. Light to medium body. Lightly bitter semi-dry finish. BrockLanders (751), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 12, 2005 Finally knuckled under and bought a sixer. Pours a red-amber color, big creamy head. Some aroma of sweet malts...sugary. Nice full mouthfeel, dense, malty; caramel malts. As it warms the maltiness becomes more pronounced. Not much in the way of hop bitterness, but the malts are tempered somewhat. Heck, I’m just amazed that this tastes tolerable. Ah, it’s owned by Heineken....still I’m surprised they haven’t completely killed what is still palatable in this beer. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2005 Pours a deep dark red with a decent offwhite head that drops back to 1/4 inch and laces the glass. Aroma of caramel, some plum and fig, and a little smoke comes out of this one. Flavor is smoky yet sweet almost nutty and caramel. It is carbonated well and feels great on the palate. The finish is a little smoky and dry but very pleasant. Nice body to this beer not too heavy for the style just right. This is a good beer..
