Will it still be a decent representation of the beer? Fortunatly this one has either held up well, or its gotten there somewhat recently. So it poured a little head heavy, but then I go to notice the fine crimson body on this one. It has a medium maltyness to it, with a nutty flavor towards the end. There isnt much bitterness, leaving a rather sweet flavor in my mouth, a little bit roasted, but cherry like sweetness. Quite a suprise. Spliffy (55), Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA

Great lite dark brew with some very lite tones of cocoa/malty caramel. Toasty as well. Also gives you some wicked beer farts the next day to piss off your wife!!!!! | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2005 Clear deep amber/mahogony with a little sudsy head with decent lace. Sweet lightly roasted fruity noses. Maybe past it’s prime but not off tasting. Stale bread, light molases, raisin and cherry tartness. Some cocoa, mild pithy hop well behind the toasted nutty malt. Dry but chalky finish. Thanks ralph. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2004 Large light tan head. Fairly clear dark amber body. Aroma is bubblegum, oatmeal and some roasted nuts. The taste has sweet malty syrup. Also some walnuts. A medium mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Actually a fairly solid brew in the style. The finish has honey roasted peanuts. Cornfield (4966), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2004 Not a bad Italian beer. This pours a medium dark with a thin tan head. The aroma is very malty and sweet; the taste is caramel with some fruitiness, and a slight alcohol presence. Sweet & syrupy finsh. And it went good with chicken scallopini. beastdog75 (337), Brick, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2004 For an Italian macrobrew, this is pretty good. Big malts here, with caramel, molasses, and fruity notes. Decent alcohol presence throughout the beer as well. I think that this actually holds up well against some real German doppelbocks.
