Aroma is of roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, and a slight hint of some hops. Flavor is pretty strong of the roasted malts at first. Finishes sweet from the caramel, dark fruits, and some hops. Suprisingly it has a slight warming on the finish. vonderbrink (10), Concord, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2009 12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. A gusher upon opening -- that doesn’t exactly bode well.
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark reddish-brown body with a frothy, off-white head.
Smell: Sweet-smelling malty aroma along with a large, wafting note of raisins.
Taste: Sweet, toasty blend of caramel and toffee. Hint of Bit-o-Honey candy. Slight fruity, raisiny twang that emerges midway. Lightly spicy hops and bitterness. One single, solitary drop of alcohol. Finishes sweetish and fruity.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Just the very slightest stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A sweet-tasting, easy drinking, relatively cheap beer. So, it definitely has some things going for it. seanbhudson (54), , California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2009 APPEARANCE: Pours a clear amber-brown color with a large tan head that dissipates at average pace. A little bit of lacing.
AROMA:
Toasted malts, caramel, alcohol and little dark fruit (prune).
FLAVOR:
Similar to aroma with toasted malts and some dark fruit. I also get hints of chocolate and molasses. Some lingering alcohol flavors.
MOUTHFEEL
Smooth medium body beer with creamy texture and light carbonation.
DRINKABILITY:
Easy drinking beer but a little too sweet for me. The high alcohol content wears on me a bit. Finally there is a slight metallic taste that I don’t like. Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium
