dkachur (1069), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville. Brown-tinged red with a fizzy 2-finger head. Roasted malt aroma with some dark fruits. Roasted grain taste with plum and raisin notes, with caramel and banana in the finish. Medium bodied.
FunkyBrewster (205), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 1, 2008 Pours a deep golden brown color with a small tan colored head. Aroma is very sweet and malty with some caramel and woody notes. Flavor starts very sweet and picks up a nice biscuit breadiness. Some deep roasted malts lead into a nutty finish with some bitterness that lingers. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice even bock beer that simply fits the standard. ogreface (179), Budapest, Hungary Nov 21, 2008 Vörösesbarna színű bock amin szép bézs színű hab terpeszkedik,elég kitartóan.Kellemes gyümölcsös illata van.Íze édeskés,karamellás,pörkölt malátás.Jól esően melegít az alkohol.Később diszkréten csatlakozok hozzá a komló kesernyéssége is,ami az utóízre is jellemző.Ez finom! Floback (282), N-town, Florida, USA Oct 31, 2008 Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a large tan-colored head over an amber body with tight curtains of lacing. The nose is malty with notes of wheat and toffee. Similar flavors that include cola, subtle toffee, more roasted maltiness, and subtle caramel. Low carbonation and medium/full body. Alcohol content is hidden well. A decent beer; very representative for the style. tylerss20 (94), New Hampshire, USA Oct 22, 2008 If you’ve ever had sweet rolls in a steakhouse or b-b-q stop, you’ll have an idea about this brew. Very sweet, malty, slight yeastiness. Despite lightness, there’s a lot to the beer. I liked it a lot. Almost dessert-like in quality, good for post-dinner. DruncanVeasey (1820), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Oct 19, 2008 Updated: Oct 20, 2008Import courtesy of Ma and Pa Jenner. Ruby pour swirled with beige. Dabs of lace. Slightly vegetal nutty malt, demerara and Twiglet aroma as exuded by a Doppelbock. Loads of cooked brown sugar, caramel, faint Marmite yeastiness. Slick and soapy smooth with traces of roast and malt loaf stickiness. Alcohol pretty well hid. Excessively sweet but not without a certain charm. Sort of pleasantly sugary dark malty brew you’d be relieved to find in a desert devoid of anything better eg. southern Spain, Greece, Hinckley etc.
