omhper (10140), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 28, 2008 Updated: Jun 12, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Opaque black with coarse beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Very soft and verlvetty. Like whipped cream with tar pastiles and chocolate. Laid back, yet mouthfilling. Aniseed and a very slight warming tingle from the chili comes through in the salty finish. A wonderful, well balanced beer that exceeds my expectations.

A good Imperial Stout, with nice aroma, medium body, strong liquorice character. A bit dry at the end. Crosling (1598), Loveland, Colorado, USA May 20, 2008 Bottle, Monk’s Cafe, Stockholm, Sweden. Pours dark brown but appears black in the glass. Small, filmy, light tan head. Hints of dried chocolate, fruit and a touch of red pepper in the nose. Mild hints of dried chocolate and cocoa on the palate. Smooth, balanced beer, but a bit light on the palate. Aroma and flavor should have more expression for an Imperial. Svesse (1498), Hässelby, Sweden May 8, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 6 May 2008) Black colour with frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with toasted grain, chocolate and cocoa. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate and smooth notes of coffee and dried fruit. Loads of cocoa and chocolate in a long smooth finish, rolling in wave after wave. Medium to full body, deceptively smooth, balanced bitterness. Wouldn’t suffer from a little more sting, but very tasty and brilliantly balanced. ante (2450), Stockholm (Bromma), Sweden Apr 28, 2008 Bottled, at Monks Café, Stockholm. Pours out in an almost black colour with red edges. Small creamy pale brown head. Big and solid aroma of cocoa, coffee, dark chocolate, figs, crackers and mild lemon. Full-bodied with notes of cocoa, nuts, crackers, dried fruits and anise. Mild carbonation. Long, full but still really well-balanced finish of nuts, anise and dark chocolate.
