Commercial Description:
Ambershock® is an amber beer produced by way of infusion, with 7.0% alcohol by volume (17.7 Plato degrees). The wort boiling phase is prolonged in this case to obtain a certain caramelizing of the sugars in the wort. Strong, full-bodied and mellow, its marked yet well-balanced malt flavor mainly derives from a special bottle-conditioning process that lasts for approximately 4 weeks. Bear in mind that this is not a refermentation phase caused by adjunct sugar or wort, which happens with Trappist beers. It is an exclusive procedure adopted by Birrificio Italiano® of Lurago Marinone. That is why Ambershock® is only sold in bottles. If it were matured in vats and served on tap, it would have a completely different taste. Bottle conditioning also brings about perfect settling of the yeast, which makes it possible to have a perfectly limpid beer with a strong, bright amber color.

A hazy orange beer with a dense beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, fruits, and a touch of flowers. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of fruits, and a bit of yeast giving it a spicy note.

Inspired by Belgian trappist ales, this is a fine amber ale. A bit sweet, but with a fine sour finish. The best beer I’ve tried from this brewery. Updated June 07. 0,75 l bottle. Still a fine beer.

Another very solid beer from Italiano. Enjoyed from the bottle and on tap at the brewpub in Lurago Marinone and again these people make the drive from southern milan worth it. Nice full bock beer with a bit of an alcohol kick. A bit too sweet for my tastes, but damn this one smells nice, malt and booze. Yum.

Bottled: Murky amber coloured. Beige small head. Brown sugar, caramel and some floral notes in the aroma. Flavour is light herbal and fruity. Has some notes of berries, and is light spiced. Medium bodied and quite smooth. Ends on a light bitter note. Thanks Ungstrup for sharing.

Colour of chestnut; thick, creamy, cream-coloured head, fast disappearing. Nose gives coloured malts, caramel, brown candi sugar and brown bread. very malty taste, like malt grabbed out of the sack; brewery-aroma put into taste. Slight retronasal bitter taste, partly hoppy. Palate is much hoppier than taste, even with a bit sharp finish. Mouthfeel gives quite some carbonation? Very pleasing beer, gives however the impression that of they had pushed it more towards a noble hop-line, it might have been a real shocker.

[Re-rate]This is one of the few beers brewed by this microbrewery that is served (and sold!) only in bottles. Great appereance: cloudy reddish colour with a creamy foam. The aroma is hoppy and fruity, with pleasant hints of strawberry. The flavour is malty, sweet (honey and caramel), fruity (strawberry and raisin), balanced by a good hoppy aftertaste. Great complexity, perfectly balanced, this beer is wonderful!!
