Commercial Description:
Double amber malt produced by way of decoction, with approximately 6.5% alcohol by volume (17 Plato degrees). A small amount of Cassis syrup is added at the beginning of the fermentation with S. carlsbergensis. It is prematurely bottled to obtain high gas saturation, and matured for at least six months at a temperature of approximately 6-7 °C. As in the case of Amber Shock, this is not re-fermentation, but an exclusive procedure adopted by "Birrificio Italiano®" of Lurago Marinone .
Cassissona®" has been produced since 1999. It is made during the summer and served in wide-mouthed glasses with the appropriate dessert.

Huge, chewy malts blend well with the strong currants in the aroma. Opaque straw coloured body is topped by a generous and very long lasting, fine bubbled white head that sticks well to the side of the glass. Currants are strong in the flavour but never overwhelm the round and bready malt character. Medium body with lovely soft bubbled strong carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle. Need to follow up on purchase date but it’s at least two years old.

Stemware sample at local beer seminar. Poured a cloudy, orange/amber, with an off white, foamy head, and clingy lacing. Aroma was tangy, dark fruit and black currants. Flavor was tart fruit etc. as the nose. Medium body with high carbonation. Seems like it would be a nice dessert pairing.

Nice amber coloured body with an orangish tint and a super-large off-white head. Aroma of black currants, malt, coriander seed, wheat and a ton of yeast. Medium-bodied; Sweet taste up front with some malt and black currant flavours roaming through. Aftertaste shows a sweet finish with the currant flavour roaming throughout. Overall, a decent beer - nothing horrible at all and some good flavours going through. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 06-January-2006.

courtesy of Tony @ OTH. On tap, pours amber with white head. Aroma / taste, fruity (cassis), light hops and sugars. It does leave the light tart mouthfeel of the berry-cassis. The cassis was really faint in taste, noticeable and made this brew a very enjoyable one.

Bottle purchased at Bir & Fud, Roma. The colour is glowing orange with a huge off-white head. Prunes aroma, but other dark fruit, especially prums, as well. Vinous. The taste is sweet and fruity, yet still very well-balanced with vinous flavours. Blends well with caramel maltiness. Some raisiny traits towards the finish. Well-carbonated. Enjoyable.

75 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours dark orange with a white head. Solid butterish aroma. Light spiced and wineous fruity flavoured. Towards dry and spiced into the finish. Sad aroma, decent flavour.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a very cloudy amber golden with a rough, dense, off-white head. Distinct butter aroma. Medium body with some sweet fruitiness. No bitterness. 311008

Bottle. [Tasting session @ Papsoe, 31-10-2008] Huge creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Muddy golden color. Aroma of dusty grain, yeast, light fruit. Over the palate came sour raisins, wheat like notes. Light bodied with an average carbonation. Light sweet and acidic flavor. Light sour fruity finish.
