Commercial Description:
Double amber malt produced by way of decoction, with approximately 6.5% alcohol by volume (17 Plato degrees). A small amount of Cassis syrup is added at the beginning of the fermentation with S. carlsbergensis. It is prematurely bottled to obtain high gas saturation, and matured for at least six months at a temperature of approximately 6-7 °C. As in the case of Amber Shock, this is not re-fermentation, but an exclusive procedure adopted by "Birrificio Italiano®" of Lurago Marinone .
Cassissona®" has been produced since 1999. It is made during the summer and served in wide-mouthed glasses with the appropriate dessert.

Bottle sampled. Pours amber with a large beige head. Aroma of fruit, currant, yeast, and light spices. The flavor is sweet, fruit, currant, yeast, spice, and an ok body.

Lightly tart and fruity with dusty notes. The body is a muddied yellow/orange affair and holds an initially riotous white head which settles down without completely fading away. Dusty wheat/malt fore followed by tart fruits and very faint hints of what is almost marzipan. I feel like this could be better with some more flavor concentration, but as it is I am not feeling it.

The more I drink, the less I like. It still has some redeeming qualities though. It looks fantastic. The taste is highly carbonated with a touch of tart. The Currant is more of an after thought.

The aroma is yeasty with malt and a touch of black currant. The appearance is hazy amber gold with a huge head. The flavor is like the aroma and a little tart. The palate is somewhat thin. Overall a nice beer to drink.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy brownish amber color with a large fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate tart fruit and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Heavy sweet dark fruit flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Refreshing beer.

the whole glass is filled with foam. i guess you could say the head is extremely large and foamy. cream colored head with a cloudy orange body. aroma is sour with white grapes and citrus. odd flavors. lots of malt and notes of alcohol. warm finish. some brett, green olive, and woody notes. hints of tart berries in finish. not what i expected.

Light berry nose, cloudy amber, fizzy head. Faily large ale body for a fruit beer so it tastes like beer. The currants don’t come until the end. Big body. Good balance and a nice fruit beer.

Bottle at the Seattle International Beerfest. Pours deep glowing medium amber with deep, thick, moussy head. Nasty nose--stale wet bread. Medium body, soft carb. Some oxidized apple but not much else on the mid-palate. No finish.
