Commercial Description:
Extra Hop® is produced once or twice a year, usually in the spring.
It is a German Pilsener produced by way of decoction, lighter than Tipopils (4.8 against 5.2% alcohol by volume), with 11 Plato degrees. It is drier, more bitter and fragrant. Since it is matured in barrels, it has all the time and ideal conditions for perfect decantation of the yeast, and is therefore quite limpid. People who are used to Tipopils will think much has been lost with the yeast. Extra Hop® does not have the typical thickness of unfiltered, yeasty beers. Nevertheless, it offers a lot to people willing to take the time to become more familiar with it. Like other Pilseners, it is a simple beer that is evaluated according to just a few characteristics: bitterness, body (a hint of malt), hoppy aroma (quantity, quality and persistence) and, most importantly, the harmony between these three factors.

One of my favourite Pilsner style! Agostino the brewer did a great job, sadly he brews this beer only twice a year, so it disappears immediately... A crispy, bitter, small masterpiece....

Well, the name says it all. Golden colour with a good, persistent head. Good hoppy aroma with hints of flowers. Obviously this beer has a strong hop flavour, but even some malt sweetness. Not as bitter as it could seem.

On draught at the brewpub. Light cloudy, yellow colour with big, creamy, steady head, topped with a hopcone. Looks yummy indeed. Great modern style pils aroma with wood, cedar and flowers from Hallertauer Mittelfrûh I belive. Dry, crips mouthfeel with flowers and citrus. Good hoppy, almost salty finish. Hops speak here, not the malts. Great beer!

Draught @ Brewery tap, Birrificio Italiano, Lurago Marinone (CO), Italy. Wow what a pilsner .... Light unclear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, heavy hoppy, grass, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long long duration, and a very nice dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. THIS IS THE BEST TASTING PILSNER I HAVE TASTED - Well made Agostino. ;o)) (081107)

A brilliant gold under a perfect, creamy bright white head, with a Tettnanger whole cone on it. Nose is plenty of grassy, citric and even spicy notes. In the first two glasses i had malty inviting notes were clearly felt. After the third hoppiness starts to be a bit overwhelming, but certainly not boring. The bitter and quite aggressive hoppiness found the perfect marriage in mouth, with honey and bake malt’ contributions. A long and dry finish. I could clearly perceive hop taste in my mouth for about two hours after i’d left LurAgo. A great Pils indeed. --------&# drank 2007 version. Another great beer from Lurago. Should be better only if served in 1liter mug!!!

the best of the options at pils pride. like all the beers it had a well made head. aroma and flavor of grass but with a touch of hop sharpness. although it is lighter than tipo in color and booz it realy shines in flavor. the hop is king.

Yet another fantastic pilsener offering from B.I. Great floral, not too hoppy despite the name, nose and crisp cleansing -- basically a slightly lighter, perhaps summerier, version of the world-class Tipopils.
