Glouglouburp (1943), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 13, 2008 In short: A perfumy rose-water based beer. Girly and sickeningly aromatic
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed some 6 months after the beer release. Sample at Cathschlag birthday party tasting
The look: Cloudy blonde body with big ugly chunks of yeast topped by a short-lived white head
In long: The floral aspect of this one goes has flower petals and the likes but goes way beyond that, this is downright rose water, perfume and other romantic girly aromatic notes. Some fruity notes (mainly grapefruits) feel like and added flavour to a rose water drink rather than the other way around. Body is watery. Light sensation of cleaning product. Not even refreshing, just annoying. What the fuck were my drinking partners drinking giving positive review to that gross girly perfumy beer, I haven’t anything so gay since Dancing With The Stars: Special Hairdressers.
bhensonb (2883), Woodland, California, USA Jun 25, 2008 750 ml bottle opened with quite a pop. Aromas of citrus, unknown spice and yeast? Hazy orange tinged gold color with a minimal white head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. A slightly brett-like sour for flavor with light spice, some yeast, and a lot of lighter fruits. I think I detect a little rose oil on the palate. Only a slight floral hoppiness. Reasonably dry. There’s a lot going on here. It’s very fresh and refreshing. A session ale for sure. Un poco una delusione.
______Riassaggiata alla spina all’Isola della Birra... tutta un’altra cosa. Good flavor of honey, fruits including citrus and spices, there is some dryness along the way. The body is light with a powdery texture and gentle carbonation. This beer is interesting considering the low abv%. JMFG (1140), Florida, USA May 9, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Cloudy light straw color with a broken head. Odd vinegary/brine aroma, light spicy, a hint of funk. Lightly briny taste, some citrus, grain. As with the Te, the brine character really is too much for me. I don’t know what makes this happen, but I’m finding I don’t like it so much.
