Commercial Description:
In the past era, hard working rural "Saisonniers" consumed 5 liters per day of this style beer. We re-created it for today's modern worker using Belgian yeasts and sour mashing for a refreshing spiceness and acidity to enliven your palate. Bottle conditioning leaves some sediment, so decant by slowly pouring into a wide mouth glass. Refill this bottle at your favorite local brewery.

Bottle. A hazed light golden yellow with a white head. Citrus, barnyard, spiced and dusty but quite pleasant aroma. Earthy and floral but it floats on a light base with a hint of refuge yeast. Smooth with a nice citrus finish.

Bottle: Dirty golden, hazy, moderate to large rocky off-white head, dies rather quickly, light lacing, moderate carbonation.   Musty barnish nose, slight fromage, even a bit of earth.   Very musty/basement like on the tongue, soft floral/herb presense.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finish has an herbal tea quality, while remaining musty and cheesey.   Not a bright floral saison, but instead a darker mustier example.   Fairly clean, decent, but not what I look for in a saison.

Cool swing cap Bottle from Liquor Barn in Lexington, KY. The popping noise startled the shit out me upon opening this. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of lemon, yeast, coriander, and some belgian funkiness. Mouthfeel is light and soft, with soft carbonation. Body is a tad light, but not distracting. Initial flavor of orange, banana bread, and cloves. Middle has notes of dust and white pepper. More clove on the semi-dry finish, along with lots of phenols (including band aid). Perhaps I am sensitive to it, but the band aid flavor distracted me from getting excited about this beer. I am surprised no one else is picking it up.

Bottle shared by puddintane: Pours a hazy gold in color with a white head. Aroma, funky, some pale malts, and some floral notes. Flavor, bready, some light fruits, spice, and some light funk to it. Pretty tasty stuff.

500mL bottle, courtesy of jasonp. Thanks, Jason! Pours a cloudy yellow color; white head with pleasant lacing. Cloves and yeast in the aroma, hints of banana. Medium-to-full, chewy mouthfeel: plenty of banana, cloves, and vanilla; hints of white pepper and spice; lively carbonation and slightly viscous. Medium, clove and yeast finish.

Less carbonated than I would have liked. Chalky finish following a rich flavor of lemony spicy and nutmeg. Small head. Perhaps this particular bottle didn’t hold up so well. Nice organic saison, but not as spectacular as I anticipated it would be.

Awesome flip top bottle from Davecooks, oh man Dave this is a great beer. Bottle pops with a lot of force. Pours with a large head into my Chimay goblet. Color is a deep orange-ish golden, with some visible carbonation. A very thick looking beer that just glows. The head turns into a cream lacing about 3 centimeters thick and just sits around. I mean when it comes to beauty it doesn’t get better than this. Aroma is ever changing, lots of Belgian yeastiness, then a great cookie dough malt flavor and then this crazy fruity (orange, citrus) and spicy yeastiness pops out. The aroma is all there and ever present and yet it is able to stay light and refreshing. Taste is right there as well with more of the yeasty maltiness - light cookie dough with an offsetting acidity and a slightly bitter hoppiness. A nicely lively mouthfeel with a bit of spikiness on the roof of my mouth and an overall cloudy-pillow like feeling. The longer I drink this the better it gets, each little pour adds a different dimension. Also, got to love the fact that they advertise for you to refill their bottle at your favorite brewery, this really is a killer Saison. 9/5/8/4/17

Re-rate: Oh my, what have these bastards done, I think I hate these brewers now. It’s one thing to brew a bad beer from the beginning but to ruin such a great beer is an awful awful thing. I have had the 22oz bomber twice now (shared by Dickinsonbeer and one from 11026) and this is not even the same freaking beer. First off none of that head at all. Just a plan thick golden, small head. Aroma is horrific, cleaning products, rotten fruits, and cheap Belgian sweetness. Taste is also overall sweet, astringent, and some weird off-flavor. Something is just completely different between the two bottles.5/3/6/3/12
