Commercial Description:
In the past era, hard working rural "Saisonniers" consumed 5 liters per day of this style beer. We re-created it for today's modern worker using Belgian yeasts and sour mashing for a refreshing spiceness and acidity to enliven your palate. Bottle conditioning leaves some sediment, so decant by slowly pouring into a wide mouth glass. Refill this bottle at your favorite local brewery.

Bottle picked this up at Belmont Party Supply in Dayton - Pours golden cloudy with a short white head that leaves spiderweb lacing. Aromas of yeast, and some light spice as well as some floral notes. Flavor is bready with lots of spices there as well. Some grassy notes as well towards the middle. Finishes rather dry. Smooth and easy to drink.. Crisp on the palate with a fair amount of carbonation

cloudy amber, nice white head. sweet, yeasty nose. flavor is boring but not bad. unbalanced yeast. full and dry body lets the flavor sit well.

Creates a golden elixir in the trappist glass cup. Some foam develops but will quickly retreat to liquid. Nose is a mild touch of spicey yeast but is very subtle. Crisp well caronated drink with notes of the spice and yeast but again to subtle for me to think highly of this saison.

Bottle. I had no real expectations of this beer as I had never had any brews from this brewery before. I was pleasantly surprised. Pours somewhat light in color, a little cloudy, with a foamy head. It had a slightly sour grassy, but yet citrusy aroma, more lemon than grapefruit. The flavor was spicy/herbal/clove with a sort of grassy finish. This was as good a non-Belgian Saison as I have had in in quite awhile.

This saison pours an orange gold color from a 50cl swing top bottle. Large sized off-white foamy head. Aroma is herbal, bready and yeasty, some spices, orange peel and pepper. A medium bodied saison. Malts are cookie, caramel and sweet. Hops are earthy and floral. Lively carbonation. This is an interesting saison, lots of spiciness in the aroma, but not a lot in the flavor. Kind of Belgian in nature, without the bubblegum, banana and clove flavors that one would expect. Nice beer, Very Drinkable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and sweet. Aftertaste is sweet.

Wow this is fabulous. Some gentle sweet and sour with lemony, grassy flavor a tad sweet. Distinctly different than Dupont though in the same saison ballpark. Delicious. No flaws emerge as it warms.

Bottled and served in my Ratebeer tulip: 1st pour is a clean golden hue with a small fading head which left good lace. The aroma has notes of grassy and aromatic hops, musty and earthy yeast esters, some sugary vapors, orange peel and lemon zest, candi apple, and some coriander. Smells quite nice really...could I be in for a surprise?

Well the taste is pretty solid with a nice element of earthy and fruity notes over a base herbal tea/wild grains/old yeast flavors. A acidic twang hits the side of palate quickly making this brew freshening. The finish is cotton dry with a note of wood and hop spice. The mouth feel works within the framework of the flavor.

Well balanced but not quite the level of the world best Saisons...that said still more than drinkable and easily the best beer I have had from Bison Brewing. Try some for it is beer geek worthy. (I wonder how Ernest rated this?)
