Commercial Description:
For our 22oz IPA bottling, we play around a bit. We use the exact same malt profile in each brew, but experiment with different hop varieties. This high alpha hop leaves a clean bitterness and is a good example of grapefruit and pine. Sometimes, we get a little sweet character like pear. This hop is also known as "Tomahawk." Let us know what you think at info@bisonbrew.com Cheers!

22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy brilliant orange color with a foamy white head that fades to a film on top of the brew and leaves good lace. Smells like peanuts, and like someone said previously, vegetables. Tastes a bit nutty as well. Also tastes like vegetable pulp, you know, stalks and stuff. SOme citrus in there but definitely in the background. Full bodied, nice active carbonation. Not that great. I bought it 2 days ago from BevMo but maybe its not fresh.?.

Pours amber, good clarity, with a small white head. Citrus grapefruit nose, a bit herbal, with sweet malts notes alongside. Earthy flavors tend to show up, but don’t last long enough to pay rent due to the big bittering hops that scrape the palate. The hops take on a soapy quality in the finish and show more of their pine and herbal qualities and almost a bit of a dusty flavor.

In my very humble opinion, the only thing this beer really has going for it is appearance. Spot on for the style. After this, I’m afraid things take a turn south for me. The aromas are of stale hop and vegetables, mainly asparagus. Very soft aroma, but not what I’d label delightful. Weird is more like it. First sip was the same as the last. Nice bitterness, but that asparagus profile shows up again. Maybe my tastebuds are off. Maybe the bottle’s gone bad. Maybe it’s just not that good. Either way, I probably won’t have this again.

Looks like this must be an older bottle thats still on shelves. Aroma was still a little light grapefruit but mostly malts coming through in the aroma. Flavor was really smooth with a light bitterness to it. Not bad at all and easy to drink but it is not overly hoppy.

(22oz bottle) Medium off-white head atop lightly hazed apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some orange, light pineapple. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, some pine. Quite bitter, with fairly dry finish. Medium body, light resin. Leaves a nice coating on the tongue.

22 oz. bottle from Liquid Solutions. Hazy reddish amber color with a huge fluffy off-white head that leaves abundant lace. Toasty malts, hints of citrus scents, but most prominent are the dusty, earthy and herbal hop aromas. Flavor of citrus peel, more earthiness, subdued caramel and toasty malts, a little pine resin, but more herby in character than anything else. Medium body, gentle carbonation. The columbus hops by themselves are interesting and enjoyable, but seem to need something else to make it really work well. Overall I liked it.

22oz bottle. Poured a medium and cloudy orange color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, pine and caramel. Tastes of the same grapefruit, pine and caramel. Lightly sweet with a nice, medium bitter finish. Body on the thinner side.

Slightly hazed and amber/orange with a goodly sized head that laces in chunks. The aroma is heavy with sweet caramel and heavier with pine and grapefruit. Nice and snappy, peppery mouthfeel. The caramel backbone is just strong enough to support the serious hop bitterness. Nice prolonged pine, grapefruits, and pepper bitter finish.
