The pour is black with a very large forthy tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste was thinner than expected. Flavors followed the aroma, but had that off taste you get from most organic beers. joshwilfong (785), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 3, 2006 large tan head ontop of pitch black body, taste has hint of cocoa, malt flavor is strong with slight hop finish, after taste is slightly bitter. decent beer, much better than their golden bock, but I have questions about the brewery Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 3, 2006 The tan head sat upon the opaque, blackbody. It looked good. The head was creamy but the body was not robust nor even richly texturedand roasty as the label promised. The hops too seemed light. But the overall effect was well balanced. That is light bodied, and lightly hopped; balanced I guess but also a bit thin for a stout. Being organic may be a plus philosophicallybut it added nothing to the flavor or the enjoyment. dkoonce (884), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Dark brown, with less head than bottled water. Heavy malt aroma, with chocolate the predominate aroma. A bit flat, with a very rich sweet chocolate flavor. A bit tangy in the finish. Nothing special. Perhaps some fertilizer and pesticides in the field would help the ingredients. Glouglouburp (2839), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Black body with a medium tan head. Nice aroma. Taste is not what I expect from a Chocolate Stout. Although there is chocolate flavours in there they are playing second violin to the coffee beans. Carbonation is a bit too lively and prevents to achieve the smooth creamy mouthfeel that such a stout should have. An enjoyable but forgettable stout. This Bison is worth having if you come across it but I wouldn’t hunt it down. The beer I mean, hunting down a Bison is even less advisable. jeffdog22 (23), lakeland, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 28, 2006 very pronounced chocolate and coffee...more chocolate would have been better...malty...good finish. donvitozou (141), memphis, Tennessee, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Good base stout recipe but coco tastes is a bit astrigent. This takes away from this beer. Hops are present and balences the beer but this beer lacks some finesse. Wotha try though. Silver medal at the 2005 GABF. Forgien style stout.
